Daff classes with Ustadh Jamal Saqqa

Enrol on to our exciting new daff classes with one of the most renowned percussionists of our time, Ustadh Jamal Saqqa. Born in the blessed city of Damascus, Syria, Ustadh Jamal is a master of the science of iqā'āt (rhythms) and currently resides in Brighton, U.K. His performance and teaching style reflect the essence of authentic Middle-Eastern music.
Ustadh Jamal has worked with several high-profile artists and has been a core member in numerous prominent ensembles and orchestras touring around the Arab world and Europe. He has been an influential figure in the field of teaching, research and instrument making.
Ustadh Jamal has also taught at the Conservatoire of Damascus, given workshops at universities in France and Finland, and has received appreciation certificates for his work at Yangon Institute in Germany, Instituto Cervantes in Spain, Konya Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey.
He is the author of a three-volume book: “The Correct in Rhythm” about traditional rhythms in Arabic and Turkish music as well as other genres.

Start date and timings
All classes will take place every Saturday, beginning on 21st March 2020, and last for 10 weeks. They are open for adults and children. No preliminary knowledge or experience is required to enrol.
Childen's (under 12): 1.00pm till 2.30pm (TBC)
Adults and children over 12: 3.00pm till 4.30pm (TBC)

Both classes are £10 per session
